The Monastero Fortezza di Santo Spirito is a precious monument of medieval architecture, nestled within a marvellous landscape and boasting a breathtaking view of the valley and the Gran Sasso mountain range.
Although the Monastero Fortezza has recently been restored, it retains its original use as intended by the Cistercensi monks who lived and worshipped there.
Upon arrival you are welcomed into a warm and spiritual place, a relaxing and restorative atm0sphere. The Fortezza is a magic location for celebrating weddings, offering various and very suggestive spaces. Inside there are a few rooms made of stone, a deconsacrated church with a fresco dating back to the 1280s and the XIVth Century which are attributed to the artist Paolo Musonio. On th
e first floor are some sitting rooms and a magnificent “loggia”. The cloister, with its lawn and beautiful gardens is also an elegant and romantic location for the wedding.
The gastronomic side is looked after by the Chef Marcello Spadone, a Michelin star Chef, owner of La Bandiera Restaurant. Marcello Spadone loves to mix traditional and more innovative dishes based on the best quality ingredients available, and creates them in harmony with the refined and chic location.
There are 12 rooms for accomodating guests who are also welcome to explore and enjoy the surrounding area. This region in fact is optimally located for excursions, trekking, horse riding and cycling. In the winter there are several ski slopes.
